what's new
the development centre is always trying to move forward.
For 2007/8 our big new development is that the development centre is going to be working out of Tignes, as well as Val d'Isere.
Our Tignes office is in Precision Ski shop in Tignes le Lac, in the heart of Tignes, just across the piste from the Areoski lift.
Back for 2007/8 is the development Plus clinic.
The development Plus clinic is aimed at people who are strong on reds, ok on blacks, who want to take on steeper and more varied slopes. We had a strong demand last year from people who had improved their technique in development clinics, but who weren't quite ready to take on all that a challenges clinic entails!
So the new clinic will sit in between development and challenges. Development is still very much for people happy on reds but not confident on blacks. Challenges is for strong black run skiers skiing bumps and some off piste.
So for 2007 the tdc Coaching Clinics are :-
discovery - discover your talent, ski with confidence…for strong blue run skiers
development - develop your performance, feel your skiing flow…for strong red run skiers
development Plus - take on steeper and varied slopes...for strong red run /ok black run skiers
challenges - take on new goals, challenge yourself... for strong black run skiers skiing bumps and some off piste
So if you are looking to improve your skiing book your coaching clinic for 2007/08

If you would like to ask more questions or need more details please email us info@tdcski.com
We have developed and are continuing to develop the website. Many of the existing features will remain the same, but the primary objective is to create a source of interactive information which you can use to further your ski coaching experience, rather than just an online brochure.
We will have technical tips from each of the coaches, which you can access, thus allowing you to read tech tips and watch video clips from the coach who you would normally ski with.
There is a weekly snow report, a web cam, as well as fitness tips, news and a photo gallery.
We are currently constructing a coaching "members zone". Where our aim is to provide a resource that you can use that will work in conjunction with your on snow development and it will allow you to brush up on a few ideas and continue your personal development over a longer period than just one holiday.
Many of you who we ski with have asked us if it would be possible to have some kind of record of what you are working on etc. which you can take away with you - it is through this new members zone and online coaching forum that we aim to fulfill this want.
the tdconline - coaching forum!
Also keep your eye out for some tdcgear we will have a few different branded t-shirts and hats which will be available.
tdc has launched a couple of on going initiatives -
Outdoor Adventure Sports Bursary - 2006/07 saw the second year of the development centre bursary awarded to a young person wishing to pursue their interest in outdoor adventure sports. Applications will be taken from selected schools and clubs in the UK. We all feel fortunate to have been given opportunities by various organisations in our lives which have helped us to make a career in the mountains. This is our way of trying to inspire young people to explore the options that are available to them; we want to help them realise their ambitions and encourage them to be active.
Congratulations to the Cheadle Hulme School World Challenge Team who won the 2005/6 bursary.
Coach Development Fund - As a team we have developed a great deal over the last few years. Amongst our ranks we have a Great Britain Children's coach, BASI Trainers and Examiners, British and Canadian qualified race coaches and a New Zealand National Examiner. It is vital that we continue to further our coaching knowledge and improve our
skiing skills in order to remain the very best at what we do. For this reason, we have
established an annual fund that is available to all the development centre coaches to aid
and encourage future training.
